” In 2016, I was between startups. We all wanted to open a new venture in Bogota but were not sure what it would be. After physically seeing a lot of empty trucks in the streets and after a first-hand experience trying to buy a grill to cook some burgers over the weekend and the store not offering same-day delivery the idea just hit us. There could be something in connecting independent truck drivers with retailers through technology.”

The Future of Supply Chain Planning: Gartner Takeaways and What’s Next

Automation is showing up everywhere in supply chain planning, but the winners aren’t the ones automating the most. They’re the ones choosing the right decisions to automate, bringing people along early, and using AI to build speed and confidence in planning. In this episode of Supply Chain Now, Scott Luton and special guest host Karin Bursa, CEO of NIRAKIO, welcome Noha Samara, Senior Director, Global Supply Chain at Gartner, to share key takeaways from the Gartner Supply Chain Planning Summit in Denver. Noha unpacks why AI is shifting from “side experiment” to a core part of planning’s operating model, and why the most successful organizations define a clear human-machine strategy instead of trying to “spread AI like peanut butter.” The conversation spotlights the “people side” of transformation: change management, capability-building, and involving planners early so AI is implemented with teams, not to them. The group also dives into end-to-end data and scenario-driven range planning, including how top performers extend those range discussions with suppliers, customers, and trading partners. They close by emphasizing agility through targeted automation, clarity on humans “in/on/off the loop,” and why leaders can’t afford to sit on the sidelines as the pace of disruption and innovation accelerates.…

From Purchase Orders to Predictive Control: How Early PO Visibility Prevents Costly Supply Chain Surprises

Early purchase order visibility can be the difference between staying ahead of disruption and scrambling to catch up. In this episode, Mike Wiggins, Senior Vice President of Solution Design and Deployment, and Nayeli Valladares, Vice President of Solution Design and Deployment at DP World, discuss why early purchase order visibility matters more than ever as supply chains face disruption, sourcing shifts, and greater complexity. They explain how purchase orders can give teams an earlier read on demand, risk, and pressure across suppliers, carriers, brokers, and internal teams, leading to better forecasting and smarter planning around inventory, capacity, and transportation. They also explore how companies are using technology and closer coordination to make faster, more informed decisions. From tariff-driven sourcing changes and seasonal demand swings to stockout risk and communication gaps, Mike and Nayeli show how stronger visibility helps teams act sooner, reduce surprises, and build more resilient operations.   This episode is hosted by Scott Luton and Karin Bursa, and produced by Trisha Cordes, Joshua Miranda, and Amanda Luton.   Additional Links & Resources Check out all the great resources and information mentioned during the show: Connect with Mike Wiggins Connect with Nayeli Valladares Learn more about DP World Upcoming…
