Supply Chain Now – Episode-447

“I know that I have so much to learn and I want to keep learning. I think by showing that to people they know you’re not walking around with a stick saying, “I know everything,” that you’re, you’re still in the same boat.” Nicole Glenn, Owner & President of Candor Expedite, Inc.   “It’s okay to be a little tough on people because that really means you care you want to draw more out of them. It’s when you stop doing that that you’ve kind of lost faith that they can go any further.” Trey Griggs, Vice President at Lean Sales   For all of the amazing equipment, technology, and processes that make supply chains run, at the end of the day it is the talent, energy, and experience of people that make them amazing. In this podcast, we’re shining a spotlight on two of those amazing people. Nicole Glenn began her operations career with truckload services, heavyweight partials, linehaul/consolidations, and expedited shipments before starting Candor Expedite with an emphasis on ground expedite service, white-glove, and final mile services. During his nine years in the transportation industry, Trey Griggs has gained experience in several technology sectors, including load boards, rate…

Supply Chain Now – Episode-586

“The expectation is that if your solution is driving value, your business should be growing exponentially. I remember financial investors telling me, ‘You guys are not losing enough money, you’re too profitable.’ Their point was that we needed to pour more money back into the business.” – Karin Bursa, Host of the TEKTOK Digital Supply Chain Podcast featured on SupplyChainNow.com   “If you’re stagnant and you’re literally just trying to get out costs, there’s only a few ways to do it. You either minimize or rationalize demand, you can try to simplify or pick a common spec, but truthfully I think the bigger thing that more and more companies are figuring out is how get stuff off their own books and have somebody else do it.” – Kelly Barner, Host of Dial P for Procurement on SupplyChainNow.com   The Supply Chain Buzz is Supply Chain Now’s regular Monday livestream, held at 12n ET each week. Supply Chain Now – Episode-458

“Our founder thought very big from the very beginning. And so, we’ve sent 50 million books (or will shortly) but there’s something like 600 million children in Africa. The needs are great for the future.” – Patrick Plonski, Executive Director of Books for Africa   The last six months have been difficult for everyone, but while people and organizations in developed nations think they have challenges, those difficulties – while very real – pale in comparison to the impact felt in developed nations. With less resources, infrastructure, and technology, there are fewer options for overcoming the societal disruptions of the pandemic. Books for Africa is the world’s largest shipper of books and computers to Africa. They send high quality books to schools, libraries, and universities across the continent. In addition to being an important humanitarian mission, the organization faces significant logistical challenges, such as shipping 20 tons of books to a library in Africa and then coordinating with people on the ground to distribute them to other schools and organizations in the community. UPDATE: Books for Africa just reached a major milestone, sending their 50 millionth book! In this interview, Patrick provides an update about Books for Africa with Supply…
