Army Public Affairs Hall of Fame

In this episode of the Tango Tango podcast, host Lloyd Knight welcomes Army Public Affairs Hall of Famer Gail McCabe. Gail shares her journey from working in Hollywood to becoming one of the Army’s first civilian broadcast journalists. She reflects on covering missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, including two attacks that earned her the Defense of Freedom Medal. Her stories, from tank competitions in Germany to humanitarian efforts in war zones, highlight the power of journalism to preserve history and honor sacrifice.

Now retired, Gail continues her storytelling through her company, CreativeMediaMatters. She talks about the emotional impact of covering conflict, the lessons she’s carried with her, and why helping others understand the human side of military service still drives her today.
